First Lego League—geared for ages 9-14—gets students excited about science and technology. The program uses theme-based challenges to engage students in research, problem solving, and engineering. Participants develop values in contributions of others, friendly sportsmanship, learning, and community involvement.
The program culminates in an annual challenge each December, which has two parts: the project and the robot game. Team members have about 10 weeks to:
- Create a that completes a mission in no more than two minutes and 30 seconds
- Prepare a presentation about their robot that they deliver to a judge panel
Our Lego Team, #892, is made up of 10 fifth graders who meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. two to three nights a week. The team works with two Rockwell engineers.
