The Mustang Press, established in 1991 by Ellen Collins, Joyce Sedlacek, and Judy Chihak, is an in-house publishing center run by parent volunteers that allows Madison students the opportunity to publish an original piece of writing every other year starting in first grade.
The goals of the Mustang Press are:
- To publish student work that has been teacher-revised and edited
- To provide additional opportunities for all students to publish selected pieces of writing through an in-school publishing center
- To help students see themselves as authors
- To increase students’ opportunities to meet CRCSD’s instructional goals for communication competencies
- To involve parents in the learning process at their child’s school
- To provide teaching staff with a well organized volunteer supported publishing center
- To provide students with original works by peer authors
